The ghost town Tussaaq Tussaaq, the abandoned Greenlandic settlement, located on an island of the same name, approx. 33 km north of Upernavik in Avannaata Municipality next to Upernavik icefjord. The village shop was closed in 1986. In 1990 there were 52 inhabitants and in 1994 only 22 inhabitants. From 1998, the settlement had only one resident. In 2010, he also left the settlement and it was closed. Before the depopulation, the inhabitants lived predominantly by catching seals. In 1925, Rudolf Kleemann from Southern Jutland was the settlement manager and the hunter Johan Thomasen was chairman of the municipal council.
